McFaddin-Ward House to Host Annual Holiday Open House Dec. 7 & 8
Beaumont, TX; Nov. 18, 2024 – The McFaddin-Ward House invites the community to delight in the splendor, sounds and spirit of the season at its annual admission-free Holiday Open House – for the first time offering a full weekend of festivities with opportunities to attend on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, from 5-7 p.m.
Guests will enjoy festive refreshments, live music, carolers and Santa’s Craft Workshop with children’s activities at the museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue in Beaumont) before making their way across the street to see the historic house shining with holiday cheer and twinkling lights.
Inside the home, visitors will tour a visual wonderland of magnificent holiday decorations throughout the first floor while traditional Christmas music plays on the Music Room’s grand piano. Inspired by beloved songs of the season, this year’s holiday interpretation, “Candlelight & Carols: A Melodious Holiday with the McFaddins,” will allow guests to experience the elegance and extravagance of an early 20th century holiday season with the McFaddin family through room designs centered around popular carols.
Gorgeous gold, shining silver and sparkling crystal light up the dining areas while glamorous party clothes and other special items like the toy train will be on display. Before departing, guests will have the opportunity to take photos with Santa on the front porch to complete the magic memories of the evening.
“With this year’s theme, our curatorial team has worked to make the season come alive through timeless holiday music and a stunning display of some of the Collection’s most beautiful pieces,” said Victoria Tamez, McFaddin-Ward House curator of collections. “Guests are encouraged to try to guess which song inspired each room design while enjoying a glimpse of the McFaddins’ legendary hospitality and holiday entertaining traditions. Ida and W.P.H. McFaddin and Mamie and Carroll Ward welcomed many guests throughout the years, and the museum is always delighted to continue that tradition.”
Built in 1905-1906 in the distinctive Beaux-Arts Colonial style, the McFaddin-Ward House reflects the lifestyle of the prominent family which lived in the house for 75 years. The museum features free tours, educational programming, year-round events, a carriage house, and gardens.
