Collections Manager – Full-Time Position

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum seeks a Collections Manager who will be responsible for the care and management of the Museum’s permanent collection.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the care, handling, storage, and preservation of collection objects, ensuring adherence to professional museum standards.
Maintain and manage accurate physical and digital records, including provenance, condition reports, inventories, and movement documentation.
Coordinate the packing, transport, and inventory of objects for exhibitions, reconciling discrepancies across physical objects, permanent files, and digital records.
Develop and maintain collections management policies, procedures, and disaster preparedness plans.
Support interpretation and public access through research, exhibitions, educational initiatives, and outreach.
Adhere to institutional ethics and human resources policies.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Paid experience in a museum, cultural, or educational setting with emphasis on collections management.
Bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies, conservation, or a related field.
Experience with digital registration software systems, preferably Catalog It.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Ability to lift 25 pounds as well as climb stairs and a ladder.
Successful completion of a background check.
