Homeschool Workshop – Speak Your Spark: Journaling for Confidence & Creativity
For Ages 8 – 12
The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Speak Your Spark: Journaling for Confidence & Creativity,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, September 9, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).
Students will learn about the importance of journaling for posterity as well as emotional well-being. We will use diary excerpts written by the McFaddin women, Mamie and Ida, for reference. Students will personalize their own journals and be given 21 days of writing prompts to help create successful journaling habits.
Reservations are required as space is limited.

Homeschool Workshop – Kick it Right! Kickball Skills & Sportsmanship
For Ages 8 – 12
The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Kick it Right! Kickball Skills & Sportsmanship,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, October 14, on the McFaddin-Ward House lawn (1906 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont) from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Come one, come all: let’s play kickball! Students will learn the basics of kickball and good sportsmanship etiquette, followed by a game of kickball and picnic-style treats and lemonade.
Reservations are required as space is limited.

Homeschool Workshop – Brushstroke Explorers
For Ages 8 – 12
The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Brushstroke Explorers,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, November 11, on the McFaddin-Ward House lawn (1906 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont) from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
A local artist will give insight into painting basics and teach students how to capture nature in watercolor.
There is no fee for this event. Reservations are required as space is limited.

Homeschool Workshop – Snap Happy Holidays
For Ages 8 – 12
The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Snap Happy Holidays,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, December 16, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).
Students will receive a tutorial in cell phone photography focusing on how to capture superb selfies this holiday season. Hands-on activities include creating holiday character-themed selfie props and taking instant photos and selfies with a festive backdrop. Participants will also enjoy a walk-through tour of the first floor of the historic home magnificently decorated for the holiday season.
