Homeschool Workshop – Super Sights: Vision Board
For Ages 8 – 12

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum Education Department will offer “Super Sights: Vision Board,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, January 27, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).

Goal setting for a new year is an exciting ritual practiced by people around the world. A vision board is a tool to help people stay connected to their goals and aspirations throughout the year, and it helps the creator visualize their plan for the future. Vision boards also focus thought and action, create a positive mindset, and celebrate progress!

Students will be provided with supplies to create their own vision boards while learning about goal setting and achievable action steps.

Registration is recommended but not required.

**Please note: This is not a drop off event. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 | 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Homeschool Workshop – Conservation with Sea Rim State Park

For Ages 8 – 12

The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Conservation with Sea Rim State Park,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, March 17, on the McFaddin-Ward House lawn (1906 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont) from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Park Ranger, Laura, from Sea Rim State Park will teach a lesson on the conservation of Texas Coastal lands, which consist of prairies, wetlands, and estuaries, and the habitats of native species such as Attwater’s prairie chicken, the bobwhite quail, and mottled duck.

Registration is recommended but not required.

Tuesday, April 14, 2026 | 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Homeschool Workshop – Victorian Era Etiquette
For Ages 8 – 12

The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department cordially invites homeschoolers and their parent/guardian to attend “Victorian Era Etiquette,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12 on Tuesday, April 14, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).

Guests will learn how tea became a staple of high society and practice proper Victorian etiquette at a tea party. A sampling of treats and tea options will be available for all attendees. Victorian or Edwardian Era attire, including hats and gloves, is recommended but not required for participation.

Registration is recommended but not required.

Homeschool Workshop – Remembering the Radio
For Ages 8 – 12

The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Remembering the Radio,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, October 13, in the Museum’s Visitor Center Lecture Hall (1906 Calder Ave. in Beaumont) from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Students will tune in for a fun lesson on the history of radio and perform their own radio broadcast.

Registration is recommended but not required.

Homeschool Workshop – Crack the Code
For Ages 8 – 12

The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Crack the Code,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, November 10, in the Museum’s Visitor Center Lecture Hall (1906 Calder Ave. in Beaumont) from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Students will dive into the secret messages of Morse code, learning the history of Morse code and trying their hand at creating and sending their own messages.

Registration is recommended but not required.

Tuesday, December 15, 2026 | 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Homeschool Workshop – Christmas Past
For Ages 8 – 12

The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer “Christmas Past,” a free Homeschool Workshop for ages 8 – 12, on Tuesday, December 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Museum’s Visitor Center Lecture Hall (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).

The holiday has seen many changes through the decades. Students will take a look back at what Christmas was like from 1900 – 1950. Participants will also enjoy a walk-through tour of the first floor of the historic home magnificently decorated for the holiday season.

Registration is recommended but not required.
