McFaddin-Ward House Museum to Present Fourth Annual SOAR Family Day This March

Beaumont, TX; Feb. 9, 2026 – The McFaddin-Ward House Museum invites the community to its fourth annual SOAR Family Day on Sunday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Museum’s grounds (1906 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont).

The admission-free, family-friendly event will feature a full afternoon of butterfly-related activities, including garden and butterfly related crafts, local artist Butterfly Art Garden display, butterfly ride-on bikes, butterfly performance artists, and Houston Museum of Natural Science Bugs on Wheels. You can also choose from multiple food trucks or picnic on the lawn as you enjoy live music by Ward, Pierce, and Steinman.
Community partners and exhibitors will include All Saints Episcopal School, Beaumont Botanical Gardens, Beaumont Heritage Society, Beaumont Independent School District, Magnolia Garden Club, Houston Audubon, Sea Rim State Park, Texas Master Naturalists – Sabine-Neches Chapter, Tyrrell Park Nature Center, Village Creek State Park, W.H. Stark House Museum, and more.
New this year, guests are invited to participate in an interactive community art project to paint butterfly wings for the SOAR Butterfly Art Garden. Volunteers from the Kind Kaygan Foundation will guide the activity, and the completed wings will be included in the local artist display throughout March. Adding to the festive springtime spirit, a vibrant outdoor installation of soaring butterflies will also be featured in the gardens all month long.

“SOAR Family Day reflects our belief that history, nature, and creativity are intertwined and best experienced together—and that meaningful connections begin when a community gathers,” said McFaddin-Ward House Museum Executive Director Jeffrey Richardson. “We look forward to welcoming you and your family to the McFaddin-Ward House Museum for a fun and informative day on the grounds.”
Later in March, the Museum will present an admission-free Music at the McFaddins’ outdoor concert featuring The Stringbenders, a Houston-based group performing a mix of country, rock-n-roll, and Zydeco-style music, on Friday, Mar. 27. Gates open at 6 p.m. with music beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the McFaddin-Ward House lawn (1906 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont). Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and refreshments for a great evening of live entertainment.
In case of inclement weather, SOAR Family Day and Music at the McFaddins’ will be cancelled.
Completed in 1906, the McFaddin-Ward House is a fully restored Beaux-Arts Colonial-style mansion and historic landmark in Beaumont, Texas, that offers a vivid glimpse into the lives of the prominent McFaddin family and their enduring contributions to the economic, social, and cultural history of the region.
