McFaddin-Ward House Museum Announces Spring 2026 Educational Programming

Beaumont, TX; Jan. 6, 2026 – This spring, the Education Department at the McFaddin-Ward House Museum will offer a wide variety of free educational workshops for homeschool students and senior adults to be held on the museum campus in Beaumont.
Homeschool Workshops, which are open to students ages eight to 12, will include:
- Tuesday, Jan. 27 – “Super Sights: Vision Board” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Students will be provided with supplies to create their own vision boards while learning about goal setting and achievable action steps.
- Tuesday, March 17 – “Conservation with Sea Rim State Park” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | McFaddin-Ward House Lawn (1906 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont): Texas Parks and Wildlife Ranger Laura Neu, from Sea Rim State Park, will teach a lesson on the conservation of Texas coastal lands, which consist of prairies, wetlands and estuaries, and the habitats of native species such as Attwater’s prairie chicken, the bobwhite quail and mottled duck.
- Tuesday, April 14 – “Victorian Era Etiquette” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Students will learn how tea became a staple of high society and practice proper Victorian Era etiquette at a tea party. A sampling of treats and tea options will be available. Victorian or Edwardian Era attire, including hats and gloves, is welcomed but not required for participation.
Craft and Share Workshops for Seniors (65+) will include:
- Tuesday, Feb. 10 – “Building Bird Houses” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Participants will be provided with supplies to build and paint wooden bird houses.
- Tuesday, April 21 – “Pressed Flower Project” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Participants will create votive candle holders using recycled jars and decorate them with pressed flowers.

For all homeschool workshops, children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration through the museum’s website at mcfaddin-ward.org is recommended for both homeschool and senior workshops but is not required. Registration will open six weeks prior to each workshop.

McFaddin-Ward House Museum Jan. 15 Lecture to Highlight Beaumont’s Historic St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica
