McFaddin-Ward House Museum and Sea Rim State Park to Present Homeschool Workshop on Conservation March 17

Sea Rim State Park Ranger Laura Neu leads an activity during SOAR Family Day at the McFaddin-Ward House Museum on March 1, 2026.

Beaumont, TX; March 4, 2026 – The McFaddin-Ward House Museum Education Department will host a free homeschool workshop, “Conservation with Sea Rim State Park,” for students ages eight to 12 on Tuesday, March 17, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. in the Museum’s Visitor Center at 1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Ranger Laura Neu, Sea Rim State Park interpreter, will teach a lesson on the conservation of Texas coastal lands, which consist of prairies, wetlands, and estuaries, and the habitats of native species such as Attwater’s prairie chicken, the bobwhite quail, and mottled duck.

“The workshop will focus on the different types of environments you can find on our coastline and how you can make a difference in conservation at home and work,” said Ranger Neu. “It’s important for us to teach conservation because we need to protect our coastline if we want to see future generations enjoying the same summers we had.”

For all homeschool workshops, children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required, but seating is limited.
