McFaddin-Ward House Museum Announces Fall 2026 Programming

Beaumont, TX; Sep. 8, 2026 – The McFaddin-Ward House Museum is pleased to announce its fall 2026 public programming lineup, which features the Museum’s monthly Lecture Series, popular Music at the McFaddins’outdoor concerts, and the festive Holiday Open House, as well as the educational Homeschool Workshops (ages eight to 12) and Craft & Share Workshops for Adults (ages 21+). All events are admission-free.

October 8: Music at the McFaddins’ Outdoor Concert featuring Curse and the Cure | 6:30 p.m. | McFaddin-Ward House Lawn (1906 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont)

Curse and the Cure—husband and wife acoustic duo Jason and Norma Touchette—will showcase their incredible range, amazing harmonies, and dynamic vocals across a wide variety of genres and familiar hits that range from Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles to 90s country and TLC. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and refreshments.

October 15: McFaddin-Ward House Museum Lecture Series presents “The Texas Sports Revolution: How the Lone Star State Changed the Culture of American Athletics” by Frank A. Guridy | 6:30 p.m. | Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont)

Award-winning historian and author Frank A. Guridy will explore how the United States became a sports-crazed nation during the 1960s and 70s, emphasizing the decisive role Texas-based athletes and sports entrepreneurs played in the country’s dramatic transformation. Guridy is an accomplished scholar whose research has focused on sport’s history, urban history, and the history of American social movements. Currently, he serves as a professor of history at Columbia University in New York City.

November 8: Holiday Photo Shoot | 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. | McFaddin-Ward House (1906 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont)

The community is invited to take their holiday photos inside the McFaddin-Ward House’s Entrance Hall with the grand staircase draped in festive décor as the backdrop. A staff photographer will take up to three photos of each group or individual using his or her personal device (digital camera or cell phone). No reservations are required—photo sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon arrival, participants may register at the Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont) to secure a spot.

November 12: McFaddin-Ward House Museum Lecture Series presents “America 250: A Beaumont History” by Judith Walker Linsley | 6:30 p.m. | Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont)

In commemoration of America’s 250^th anniversary, Judith Walker Linsley, a sixth-generation Southeast Texan and local historian, will explore the fascinating story of Beaumont, beginning with the Indigenous Ishak people and traveling through the Texas Revolution, the 1901 Spindletop oil boom, and technological and industrial expansions leading up to the modern day. For nearly four decades, Linsley has been a member of the McFaddin-Ward House Museum staff, serving in a range of roles in interpretation, education, curation, and research, including her current role as research assistant.

November 19: Music at the McFaddins’ Outdoor Concert featuring The Golden Triangle Big Band | 6:30 p.m. | McFaddin-Ward House Lawn (1906 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont)

The Golden Triangle Big Band is an 18-piece jazz orchestra comprised of some of the most talented musicians in Southeast Texas. The band is dedicated to preserving the tradition of big band music and bringing it to life for audiences of all ages. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and refreshments.

December 5-6: McFaddin-Ward Holiday Open House Weekend | 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. | Begin at Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont)

The McFaddin-Ward House welcomes the community to delight in the splendor and spirit of the season at its annual admission-free Holiday Open House Weekend, held on Saturday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. Guests will enjoy festive refreshments, live music, carolers, and Santa’s Craft Workshop with children’s activities at the Museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue in Beaumont). At the historic home, visitors will tour a visual wonderland of magnificent holiday décor throughout the first floor and have the opportunity to take keepsake photos with Santa on the front porch. New this year, guests of all ages are invited to embark on a merry ride around the grounds aboard a trackless train, adding to the holiday magic.

Public programs and community events are free and open to all ages. For lectures and lawn events, doors/gates open at 6 p.m. Seating for lectures is limited.

This fall, the McFaddin-Ward House Museum Education Department will also offer a variety of free educational workshops for homeschool students and adults. Registration is not required, but seating and supplies are limited.

Homeschool Workshops, which are open to students ages eight to 12, will include:

Tuesday, Oct. 13 – “Remembering the Radio” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Students will tune in for a lesson on the history of radio and perform their own radio broadcast.
Tuesday, Nov. 10 – “Thanksgiving Traditions” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Students will discover the history behind Thanksgiving and how the celebration has evolved over the years.
Tuesday, Dec. 15 – “Christmas Past” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Students will look back at what Christmas was like from 1900-1950 and enjoy a walk-through tour of the first floor of the historic home decorated for the holiday season.

For all homeschool workshops, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Craft & Share Workshops for Adults (21+) will include:

Tuesday, Sept. 22 – “Mosaic Art” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Participants will explore the origins and uses of mosaic art, experience an example within the McFaddin-Ward House Museum, and make a piece to take home.
Tuesday, Oct. 20 – “Falling for Flower Arrangement” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Participants will receive a tutorial on flower design and crafting seasonal centerpieces.
Tuesday, Nov. 17 – “Wonderful Wax Works” | 10 – 11:30 a.m. | Museum Visitor Center (1906 Calder Ave., Beaumont): Participants will learn to make air fresheners and soap.
