Johnny Appleseed Homeschool Workshop
For Ages 5 – 18
The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer a Johnny Appleseed Homeschool Workshop for ages 5-18 on Tuesday, September 10, from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).
Participants will explore the legendary Tall Tale of Johnny Appleseed and enjoy age-appropriate STEAM activities. Ages 5 – 10 years old will complete an activity on the germination of different apples and a themed art project. Ages 11 – 18 will learn more about the real Johnny Appleseed, discuss ways we can help our neighbors and participate in a hands-on STEAM project to help some in our community.
There is no fee for this event. Reservations are required as space is limited.
**Please note: This is not a drop off event. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Civic Engagement Homeschool Workshop
For Ages 8-18
The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer a Civic Engagement Homeschool Workshop for ages 5-18 on Tuesday, October 15, from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).
Participants will learn about the importance of civic engagement and voting, explore how to research election candidates and enjoy hands-on themed activities.
There is no fee for this event. Reservations are required as space is limited.

Oral History Homeschool Workshop
For Ages 8-18
The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer an Oral History Homeschool Workshop for ages 5-18 on Tuesday, November 19, from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).
Participants will explore how collecting, preserving and sharing oral histories passes knowledge from one generation to the next and enhances our understanding of the past through personal experience. Activities will prepare participants for conducting their own oral histories from family members during the upcoming holiday season.
There is no fee for this event. Reservations are required as space is limited.

The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department will offer a Holiday Traditions Homeschool Workshop for ages 8-18 on Tuesday, December 17, from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the museum’s Visitor Center (1906 Calder Avenue, Beaumont).
Participants will explore traditions and trends of Christmas, enjoy hands-on themed activities and tour the 1st floor of the historic McFaddin-Ward House all decked out with magnificent holiday décor.
There is no fee for this event. Reservations are required as space is limited.
**Please note: This is not a drop off event. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate younger siblings at this event due to an age requirement of 8+ for house tours.
