November 2, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the McFaddin-Ward House for “Entertaining at the White House with Time Honored Holiday Traditions,” a free public lecture presented by Jennifer B. Pickens on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the museum’s Visitor Center Lecture Hall (located at 1906 Calder Avenue in Beaumont).

White House historian, and first ladies expert, Jennifer B. Pickens will give a glimpse into the elegant entertaining and time honored traditions of the White House.

Through her research, Pickens has conducted numerous interviews with members of America’s first families, White House social secretaries, chiefs of staff, presidential aides, White House insiders, and Executive Residence staff. She will present highlights from her most recent book, Entertaining at the White House: Decades of Presidential Traditions, which richly documents 60 years of entertaining customs at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

As a White House expert, Pickens has offered her insight on a host of national television and radio programs. She has also served on the Texas Historical Records Advisory Board, Friends of the SMU Libraries board, and other civic boards.

McFaddin-Ward House lectures are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Doors open at 6 p.m. For more information, call 409-832-2134.
