Lecture: “Lone Star Lala: Texas and Zydeco Music”
May 7, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Zydeco music, the legendary genre of music that bubbled up out of the swamps in Cajun country, is often seen as a Louisiana-only type of music. But Texas, and specifically southeast Texas, has played a major role in the formation of zydeco music.
Join us May 7th, as Roger Wood presents his talk “Lone Star Lala: Texas and Zydeco Music” at the McFaddin-Ward House.
An expert on zydeco and Texas’ unique influence on it through the years, Wood is the author of multiple books on zydeco and other aspects of Texas and Cajun culture. Read more about Wood here.
This lecture is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with the lecture beginning at 6:30.
