Education Manager – Full-Time Position

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum seeks a Education Manager who will be responsible for a broad range of educational initiatives for students, teachers, and the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of educational activities from planning through execution and evaluation, including budget oversight and post-event reporting, to ensure high-quality learning experiences for diverse audiences.
  • Expand and enhance existing educational offerings, including the homeschool workshop and summer camp, to increase engagement, hands-on learning, and participant satisfaction.
  • Develop, implement, and promote new educational offerings, including initiatives for preschool-aged children, to meet community needs and broaden audience reach.
  • Oversee school outreach initiatives, including Beaumont Independent School District tours and the Museum in a Box classroom program, ensuring alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.
  • Collaborate across departments and support general museum operations as needed.
  • Adhere to institutional ethics and human resources policies.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Paid experience in a classroom, museum, or cultural setting, with an emphasis on childhood education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, museum studies, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with different learning styles and a demonstrated ability to understand Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and climb stairs and a ladder.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

  • $45,000 to $55,000 annual salary range, based on qualifications and experience

2026 Summer Internship – Temporary Position

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum in Beaumont, Texas, is offering a paid summer internship in its collections department. The intern primarily will perform collection-related duties while gaining general experience in archival and educational operations of a historic house museum.

Completed in 1906, the McFaddin-Ward House is a striking Beaux-Arts Colonial-style mansion and historic landmark. Fully restored and beautifully furnished with original pieces, the house offers a vivid glimpse into the lives of the prominent McFaddin family—who called it home for 75 years—and their enduring contributions to the economic, social, and cultural history of Beaumont and the Texas Gulf Coast.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cataloging and digitizing archives, oral interviews, and artifacts into the museum’s collections database.
  • Assisting with inventory, object photography, collections storage, and collections research, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in public history, museum studies, or a relevant history-focused discipline (such as history, art history, or American studies).  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to perform detail-oriented tasks.
  • Knowledge of proper artifact handling is preferred.
  • Experience with collections management software is preferred.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Interns must provide their own housing and transportation.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 

  • Ten (10) weeks at 40 hours per week with a $3,100 stipend (taxes will be withheld).
  • Flexible work dates between May and September 2026.
  • On-site in Beaumont, Texas.
  • Office staff can assist with the necessary paperwork for interns to obtain course credit.
