Join us on Friday, Nov. 8 for a night of great tunes during Music at the McFaddins’ featuring legendary Swamp Pop musician Jivin’ Gene Bourgeois and Eazy. Gates open at 6 p.m. with music beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the McFaddin-Ward House lawn (1906 McFaddin Ave., Beaumont).
As a teenager growing up in Port Arthur in the 1950s, Jivin’ Gene broke onto the national charts with his heartfelt ballads about love. His unique style of sound helped create a new genre of music called “swamp pop,” songs cooked up from a gumbo-like mix of influences: country music, rhythm and blues, Cajun ballads and rock ‘n’ roll. The talented singer, songwriter and guitarist continues to share his unique sound at venues throughout Southeast Texas. He is well-known for writing the hit song, “Breaking Up is Hard to Do.”
The event is admission-free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, food, and drinks as they gather on the historic home’s grounds to enjoy a great evening of live entertainment.
In case of inclement weather, Music at the McFaddins’ will be cancelled.
