Beaumont, TX; April 19, 2023 – Week 12 of the McFaddin-Ward House electrical upgrade was focused on first floor ceiling light fixtures and front and back porch lights.
Work began in the Library with electricians from Newtron Electrical Services using the wall sconces as starting points to begin looping the ceiling fixtures into the electrical circuit. Thanks to a few small access points created by Oak Grove Restoration Company, a high-resolution inspection camera, and the team’s combined skill, electricians were able to successfully run wire to ceiling fixtures in the Library, Sun Porch, Music Room, Entry Hall, Pink Parlor, and Dining Room in quick succession. Incredibly, the team was able to not only keep the Pink Parlor’s hand-painted canvas ceiling intact while accessing the chandelier fixture, but also to complete all ceiling fixtures in these rooms without needing access from above, which would have required the removal of floorboards in the bedrooms on the second floor.
Additionally, Oak Grove removed the two sconce lights flanking the front doors and overhead lights on the front porch and porte cochère in preparation of electrical work outside.
