Beaumont, TX; April 4, 2023 – During Week 10 of the McFaddin-Ward House electrical upgrade, the teams from Oak Grove Restoration Company and Newtron Electrical Services focused on first floor wall sconces, successfully completing the 30+ fixtures by week’s end.
Work began with the sconces in the Breakfast Room’s Solarium/Conservatory, which proved to be a tricky area due to limited wall access from the marble paneling and decorative art glass windows. Utilizing crawlspace access and creative thinking, the team was able to successfully complete all four sconces, as well as the light fixture above the fountain, while treating one of the house’s most remarkable and beautiful spaces with the utmost care and consideration.
Moving through the Library, Music Room, and Entrance Hall, electricians faced drilling challenges caused by old plaster that had fallen and accumulated to block pathways through walls. For each section, Oak Grove is carefully removing the baseboards, clearing debris, and cutting a small access panel to provide electricians a clear path to run wire to each sconce. After successful wiring is complete, baseboards are quickly repaired and restored to their original positions in pristine condition.
While working – especially when cutting plaster or wood – Oak Grove goes above and beyond to keep areas as clean as possible by running a negative air machine, which filters the air and helps stop the spread of airborne contaminants, and a HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter vacuum capable of removing approximately 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and other airborne particles of the most minute sizes.
