Judy has worked at the museum since 1988, first as a Research Assistant, then Education Coordinator, finally Curator of Interpretation and Education. She received her BA in Spanish and MA in History from Lamar University and was formerly an adjunct instructor in Lamar’s History Department. Over the years she’s worn many hats: secretary, bookkeeper, journalist, author of fiction and nonfiction works, teacher, editor, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
According to Judy, she gets to do the fun stuff: research the history of the family, the house, and Southeast Texas, and use the information in museum programming and interpretation. For her, researching and writing history, especially local history, is more than a job; it’s an avocation and a passion.
