DESCRIPTION:Lecture Description: Jennifer Thalheimer will examine Louis Comfort Tiffany’s astonishingly diverse work in the decorative arts over the course of his lifetime through the remarkable collection of the Morse Museum. \nSpeaker Bio: Jennifer Thalheimer is Curator and Collection Manager at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park\, Florida. The Morse Museum is best known as  home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of material owned\, collected and created by Louis C. Tiffany. Thalheimer has been interpreting the museum’s collection while researching the life and art of Louis C. Tiffany for over twenty years. She grew up on Long Island near the site of Tiffany’s estate Laurelton Hall\, and received a master’s degree from New York’s Parsons School of Design/Cooper-Hewitt Graduate Program in the History of Decorative Arts.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a presentation on Beaumont’s Temple Emanuel by Dr. Laura Cochrane\, 2020 Center for History and Culture Fellow. \nDr. Laura Cochrane is Associate Professor and Coordinator of Art History and Visual Arts at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro\, TN. She teaches classes on medieval art\, Renaissance art\, Islamic art\, book history\, design history\, and art history methodologies. \nBefore receiving her PhD\, Dr. Cochrane worked as a rare book librarian and archivist at Harvard University\, the University of Delaware\, and Princeton University. She continues her interest in rare books and focuses her research on medieval manuscript illustrations. Alexander Rosenberg is not your usual competitor\, nor is Netflix’s latest show Blown Away. The show features the country’s best glass blowers\, all vying for the top spot. Rosenberg is described as a “minimalist” artist whose talent in blowing glass is both natural and educated. He earned a Master of Science in Visual Study from MIT. Rosenberg was a show favorite\, and though he did not place first\, the experience amplified his artistic worth. Alexander Rosenberg mostly enjoys being an educator\, so this lecture promises to be a special treat. Join us as he takes you into his special world of design and mouth blown glass. Don’t miss it!

What started as a conversation and a sketch on a napkin ended with the genius architecture of Moshe Safdie and a highly respected cultural institution. Founded by Alice Walton\, daughter of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton\, the museum is an iconic example of American Art and Architecture. \nCurator Dylan Turk is our guest speaker. His ongoing work at Crystal Bridges focuses on the museum’s collection and presentation with emphasis on architecture projects like the reconstruction of Frank Lloyd Wrights’ Bachman-Wilson House. The house was taken apart and moved from its original location in New Jersey to Crystal Bridges Museum. \nOur lectures are well attended\, so please arrive early. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

The theme is HALLOWEEN\, so come dressed in your favorite costume and we’ll trick or treat on the grounds. Bring candy to share\, lawn chairs\, blankets\, tables\, food\, beverages\, games\, your kids\, and we’ll do this rest. (No doggies or cigarettes\, though. Poo on the shoe is yucky\, dog fights at our feet are scary\, and our house burning down is too terribly sad to imagine. Thanks for understanding!) \n\n Outdoor Movie\n\n\nWe’re showing MONSTER HOUSE on a giant screen on the lawn. This adorable\, animated\, frightfully fun film stars the voices of Steve Buscemi\, Kevin James\, and Maggie Gyllenhaal \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nFace painting\, art show on the porch with Ines Alvidres\, Katy Whitney and the Draw\, Gringeaux’s Food Truck\, arts\, crafts\, games\, and first floor tours are all yours to enjoy. \n\n\n \n\n\nHope to see everyone there!
