SUMMARY:Rare and Classic Automobile Display
DESCRIPTION:The McFaddin-Ward House Museum invites the community to a special display of rare and classic automobiles on May 8 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Visitor Center parking area (1906 Calder Ave.\, Beaumont). \nThe striking collection of noteworthy cars will include several iconic Ford models\, such as a 1913 Ford Model T Wide Track\, 1936 Ford Phaeton V8\, and 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR. Meet the automobile owners\, take a glimpse inside these rolling pieces of history\, and enjoy camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. \nThe Rare and Classic Automobile Display will be held in conjunction with the McFaddin-Ward House Museum lecture\, “Wheels of Progress: How Detroit and Ford Motor Company Put the World on Wheels\,” presented by Matt Anderson\, curator of transportation at The Henry Ford museum\, on May 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Visitor Center Lecture Hall. \nThe automobile display and lecture are admission-free and open to the public. \nIn case of inclement weather\, the Rare and Classic Automobile Display will be cancelled. \n*Image from the Collections of The Henry Ford

DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin us for “Wheels of Progress: How Detroit and Ford Motor Company Put the World on Wheels\,” a free public lecture presented by Matt Anderson on Thursday\, May 8\, at 6:30 p.m. in the museum’s Visitor Center Lecture Hall. \nAnderson\, the curator of transportation at The Henry Ford museum in Dearborn\, Michigan\, will provide an engaging overview of the automobile industry in Detroit\, highlighting the significant and transformative role of the Ford Motor Company. \nServing as The Henry Ford’s John and Horace Dodge Curator of Transportation since 2012\, Anderson oversees the development\, care\, and interpretation of the museum’s collection of nearly 300 motor vehicles\, as well as the collection’s horse-drawn carriages\, railroad locomotives\, rolling stock\, and aircraft. \nAdditionally\, Anderson is a past president of the National Association of Automobile Museums and a member of the board of directors for the Society of Automotive Historians. His previous roles include the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore\, Maryland; the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend\, Indiana; and the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul\, Minnesota. \nIn conjunction with the lecture\, a Rare and Classic Automobile Display featuring a striking collection of noteworthy cars\, including several iconic Ford models\, will be held in the Visitor Center parking area for public viewing and enjoyment. Cars will include a 1913 Ford Model T Wide-Track\, 1936 Ford Phaeton V8\, and 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR. SUMMARY:Homeschool Workshop: Victorian Era Etiquette
DESCRIPTION:The McFaddin-Ward House Education Department cordially invites homeschoolers and their parent/guardian to attend a “Victorian Era Etiquette” Homeschool Workshop for ages five through 18 on Thursday\, May 15\, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the McFaddin-Ward House porch (1906 McFaddin Avenue\, Beaumont). \nGuests will learn how tea became a staple of high society and practice proper Victorian etiquette at a tea party. A sampling of treats and tea options will be available for all attendees. Victorian or Edwardian attire is recommended\, including hats and gloves\, but period dress is not required for participation. \nThere is no fee for this event. Reservations are required as space is limited. \n**Please note: This is not a drop off event. Children must be accompanied by an adult. \nUPDATE: Registration is now full.
